Master control operator and technical engineer intern
WAND-TV in Decatur, Illinois is looking for someone to learn Master Control Operations. Once these skills have been acquired, the successful candidate will begin to train part-time in technical engineering tasks.
Primary control tasks will include, but are not limited to the following: keeping track of the schedules of advertisements and on-air content, placing advertisements in the home system for delivery, operating an audio console, and / or a video for TV news.
Engineering duties include, but are not limited to, the following: maintaining and repairing all equipment used for broadcast, painting, mowing and other work as they arise. Some jobs may require lifting, climbing a ladder, or going to a remote location.
Candidates should be able to communicate well with others, prioritize tasks and remain calm during stressful situations. The ability to learn quickly and pay close attention to detail is a must.
Work experience in a broadcast station is preferred but not required. WAND will train a candidate with a good technical knowledge base. This position will also assist with building and grounds maintenance and other non-technical work as required.
Interested candidates should be flexible to work a varied schedule, sometimes on short notice. This position will require working nights, weekends, holidays and being on call if necessary.
