SELECT Scotland has promoted longtime technical expert Bob Cairney to Director of Technical Services

Cairney will begin his role on October 4, taking the reins from colleague Dave Forrester, who is retiring from SELECT after 12 years.

He will now oversee the development of technical and training services for SELECT members, reflecting the growing dependence on electrical technology and the revolutionary impact of renewable energy sources.

Cairney has a long association with SELECT, having previously served for 11 years as Senior Technical Advisor and for five years as Director of Technical Services.

He was also head of the electrical section at the University of Dundee Estates and Buildings Services.

For the past four years, he has served as SELECT’s technical advisor on standards, providing technical assistance and advice to members, as well as secretary of the SELECT electrotechnical committee and external committees, including JPEL / 64, which is responsible for development. and maintenance of BS. 7671, the IET Cabling Regulations.
