The Technical Services Engineering Group (TSEG) provides critical technical support to Hayward Tyler and its customers. The TSEG is made up of engineers from a wide range of backgrounds and supports the design, manufacture and service of motors and electrical components, setup and maintenance of the test area and the testing equipment, root cause analysis and warranty review of customer equipment, troubleshooting and diagnosis of customer processes and equipment onsite and remotely, and operational excellence through implementation and supporting CAM software, conducting process analysis and improvement projects, and providing technical support for continuous improvement projects.
Job description and tasks:
This is an entry-level engineering position at Hayward Tyler for a candidate pursuing a career in engineering.
Activities will include teamwork with production technicians, mechanical and hydraulic engineers to develop designs from concept through manufacturing and testing of the finished product. Technical support activity spans the entire organization to include design engineering, testing, supply chain, operational support, and customer support. Duties will include preparation of reports, drawings and specifications, review of design specifications, and changes and new product proposals will require the development of sketches and CAD drawings.
Design – Under the direction of the Senior Technical Services Engineer and Design Engineers, translate design specifications and specified electrical and test requirements into required product design drawings and specifications. Prepare manufacturing drawings, specifications, contract submissions, procedures, testing and analysis reports.
Operations and Service Support – Provide technical assistance to service application engineers and operations personnel to resolve issues that arise during new engine manufacturing and during engine overhauls, upgrades and analysis. failures of existing engines produced by Hayward Tyler. Prepare documentation for reverse engineering and remanufacturing of engines produced by other OEMs to ensure specified design and contractual requirements are met.
Customer technical support – Provide technical assistance to existing customers in the commissioning, operation, installation and maintenance of equipment. Work closely with factory, field service and customer representatives to accomplish this task.
Product trial – Work closely with test personnel and test engineers to determine test requirements and develop test procedures. Participate in the execution of pump and motor tests. Analyze data and prepare test reports.
Commercial technical support – Assist application engineering and sales in determining the proper application of equipment through the interpretation of specifications. Participate in diagnostic and troubleshooting efforts through application review, data analysis and troubleshooting to resolve customer operational issues.
Other related tasks as required.
The ability to solve practical problems, interpret a variety of instructions given in written, oral and timetable form, proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, strong organizational skills, work independently, meet deadlines and accuracy is essential.
• BS in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, standards and specifications
