West Cumbria’s ‘Marathon Man’ Gary McKee briefly broke his pace to officially open the new facility at Blencathra House, Queens Dock, Whitehaven.

Paul Silvester, Regional Technical Services Manager EJ Parker, said: “A key factor in our offering was to make a difference in Cumbria and provide a workspace that would not only provide local opportunities, but would also be positioned in a fantastic.

“We felt this would put us in a strong position to attract local talent to join our team, and we have already created six opportunities for people from local areas to thrive in our new workspace.

“Successfully securing our place in the PPP framework has created new opportunities for us and we look forward to continued growth, supporting local initiatives and completing our first projects with the PPP at Sellafield.”

The new hub creates a base in West Cumbria for EJ Parker Technical Services, which will provide heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) services on PPP’s long-term pipeline of major capital projects at the Sellafield site.

EJ Parker successfully recruited six community members into key positions to form the core team. The company will hold social impact planning sessions with PPP and other key partners and suppliers.

Duncan Elliott, Managing Director of Program and Project Partners (PPP), added: “One of the things PPP does differently is bring in long-term supply chain partners, to help us generate social impact in the region. Seeing this office open marks quite a symbolic milestone for us and we look forward to seeing the benefits for the local community with the creation of new jobs and an attractive space to do business.”
